This may seem tacky to a lot of people but over the passed semester I began to realize how addicted I had become to Facebook and how more than anything else it really wasn't offering much encouragement in my spiritual life. Yet it was something I spent a majority of my free time checking out . So just a a practice in discipline for myself I am going to be deleting my Facebook account effective Jan 18, 2012. My 21st birthday.
That being said I have a lot of my family and friends that keep up with me Via FB so as an alternative to that I am starting this Blog. It is my intention that through this blog I may be an encouragement to my friends and family as well as keeping yal up to date with where I'm at both physically and spiritually. I have never kept a blog before so we will see how this goes but I am hoping to update this at least once a week.
The name sake of my blog comes from the end of 2 Timothy in verse 4:7. Where the Apostle Paul is reflecting on his life and comes to the conclusion that he has "...fought the good fight,...finished the race,..kept the faith." Beside the obvious similarity of Paul mentioning a RACE and my, for lack of a better way to put it, LOVE AFFAIR with running. Each of the points in v.7 are in fact characteristics I want to see when reflecting back on life and I believe for me personally getting away from "The Facebook" will leave me less distracted. Considering the information and time overload of college life i think we can all say something has got to give and giving up my time with the Lord like, at the end of last semester is not something I'm willing to let happen again, at least not without a fight.
